How to use Recurfind, what it does, and how to reach us.
Getting started
Recurfind is a browser-only tool. There is no app to install, no account to create, and nothing to sign.
- Export your statement as CSV. Most banks and card issuers let you download recent transactions in CSV format. Look for an "Export" or "Download" button on your account's transaction history page. Common labels include "Download CSV", "Export transactions", or "Statement export". If your bank offers multiple formats, choose CSV.
- Open recurfind-p1.agen2ic.ai in a modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
- Drop the CSV file onto the drop zone on the home page, or click to browse for it. The file is read directly from your filesystem by JavaScript running in your browser. It never leaves your computer.
- Review the results. Recurfind groups charges by merchant, detects the interval (monthly, quarterly, yearly), and calculates the annual cost. Subscriptions with price changes are shown first and highlighted in amber.
- Export your decisions. Mark each subscription as keep or cancel, expand any row to see the exact transaction lines that were grouped together, and download the full analysis as a CSV when you are done.
Frequently asked questions
How do I export a CSV from my bank?
Every bank has a slightly different interface, but the general steps are the same:
- Log in to your bank or card issuer's website.
- Navigate to your transaction history or statement page.
- Look for an export or download option — often a button or a gear icon labelled "Export", "Download", or "Print".
- Select CSV as the format when prompted. If your bank offers "OFX", "QFX", or "PDF", choose CSV.
- Set the date range to cover at least the last 3–6 months for best results.
If your bank does not offer CSV export, you can check whether your card issuer provides a downloadable transaction list. Most do. If you are still stuck, email us with your bank name and we will try to help.
Is my data safe? Does it leave my computer?
Your data never leaves your computer. The analysis engine ships with the page as JavaScript and runs in your browser process. The CSV file you select is read via the browser's file API (Blob.text()) and processed entirely in memory. There is no upload endpoint, no server-side processing, and no analytics or tracking. You can verify this by watching your browser's network tab — zero POST requests occur after the initial page load.
This privacy guarantee is structural: the tool has no mechanism to receive, store, or transmit your transaction data even if someone asked it to.
Why didn't Recurfind find a subscription I know I have?
Recurfind detects subscriptions by finding charges from the same merchant at a regular interval. A subscription will not appear if:
- It charged only once in the statement period you provided. Recurfind needs at least two charges at a regular interval to call something a subscription. A single charge looks identical to a one-off purchase.
- The interval is irregular. Subscriptions that bill at variable intervals (e.g., every 5 weeks rather than monthly) may not match the detection pattern.
- The merchant name varies significantly between charges. Recurfind uses fuzzy matching, but if the merchant name is completely different on each charge, they will not be grouped.
- The statement is too short. One or two months of data may not capture a quarterly or annual subscription at all.
If you believe a subscription was missed and you have a longer statement period, try exporting 6–12 months of transactions and running the analysis again.
How many months of statements do I need?
The more history you provide, the more Recurfind can detect. Three months is a practical minimum — it covers most monthly subscriptions with room for a second charge to appear. Six to twelve months will catch quarterly and annual subscriptions that a shorter period would miss. The page itself shows a message indicating how much data it needs for various levels of confidence.
Can Recurfind cancel subscriptions for me?
No. Recurfind is a detection tool, not a cancellation service. It tells you what you are paying and lets you mark your decisions. Cancellation is between you and each merchant — Recurfind does not know their process, does not have access to your accounts, and cannot act on your behalf. The tool gives you a downloadable list of what you decided to cancel so you can work through it at your own pace.
Why did Recurfind group these two transactions together? The merchant names look different.
Recurfind uses fuzzy name matching to recognise the same merchant even when the statement shows slightly different names. For example, "NETFLIX.COM" and "Netflix" or "PAYPAL *UBER" and "Uber Eats" may appear differently in raw data but refer to the same subscription. You can expand any grouped subscription to see the exact transaction lines that were matched — if you disagree with the grouping, you can mentally note it (the tool does not currently support manual splitting).
Known limitations
- No manual split or merge. If Recurfind groups two merchants incorrectly, there is no in-app way to ungroup them or to merge two separate groups. The source rows are visible so you can identify misgrouping, but the grouping itself cannot currently be edited.
- No bank connection. Recurfind does not connect to any bank's API. You must export the CSV yourself and drop it on the page. There is no automatic refresh or notification.
- CSV format coverage. Recurfind recognises common bank CSV formats but may not parse every bank's format correctly on the first try. If the auto-detect misreads your file, the column-mapping step lets you correct it before analysis.
- One file at a time. The tool processes a single CSV. If you have multiple accounts, you need to export and analyse each one separately.
- Annual cost is a projection. The yearly cost shown is an arithmetic projection based on the charges in your statement. If a subscription changes price mid-year, the projection may differ from the actual total.
- No cancellation automation. As stated above, Recurfind cannot cancel anything. The downloadable list is text — it does not send anything to anyone.
- No mobile app. The tool is designed for desktop and tablet browsers. Mobile phone screens may work but the table layout is optimised for wider viewports.
